Contemporary Twist in Traditional Needlework - Stella Adams-Schofield March Meeting 2020

This month we welcomed back Stella who always makes us think.
She provided us with definitions of contemporary and discussions took place on what we thought of as contemporary in various artistic fields not just textiles.

The first thing we were asked to do was to get used to our unusual materials, which we had brought with us, by doing some stitch. This helped us to understand the properties of our materials.

After we had explored our materials we discussed our favourite traditional technique and then made designs using that technique in a contemporary way.
We then took our designs home to make and once they are finished members will bring them back to a meeting.

A big thank you to Stella for introducing us to four new contemporary textile artists and making us consider the way we work at the moment and what we might use in the future.
