Sandra has posted the following projects she is working on.
Weaving houses |
Research for positivity square Stella's Contemporary Twist |
She used a piece of handmade paper, brusho sprayed at the Colourcraft Day. She stenciled three roses using paint sticks then Sashiko stitched on the outline of the rose.
Design and inspiration for piece |
Finished piece inspired by Mackintosh |
Well Done Janet! It is very pretty and the design is in the Spirit of Mackintosh but using paper.
Experimental Stitching to construct a Book for Wedding Guests to sign.
The following experimental stitching has just been completed by Mary. Her granddaughter has just got engaged and she wants to make a book for all the wedding guests to sign and write messages in on the day.
She has been working on a beautiful piece of hand-dyed velvet couching a cord made on her cord machine.
She is going to continue trialling and intends to try white silk.
It is very beautiful and your granddaughter is lucky to have a grandmother go to so much trouble for her and her future husband.
Good Luck with the sampling!
Gardening,sewing and knitting
Because of the lovely Spring weather, Bev has been spending a lot of her time in the garden getting things ready for the growing season.
Thanks Sandra. The little houses you're weaving look great - did you start those on your course in Edinburgh?
ReplyDeletePositivity square looking good too.
Lovely work to inspire the rest of us!
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteMy name is Tanya and I specialise in medeival embroidery.
my work is herehttps://opusanglicanum.wordpress.com/
I teach for several museums and galleries, including the Ashmoelan in Oxford. Since all classes and events are currently cancelled or postponed, I've created a couple of online classes to get us all through the long boring lockdown.
One is laid and couched work (bayeux style stitching) in wools, which is suitable for beginners to intermediate, and the other is a more advanced class in opus anglicanum. I'm offering an option to have a kit sent out, or a cheaper option which will be access to the digital media only (useful for stashbusting).
I wondered if this might be something your members would be interested in, and would be very grateful if you would let them know about it.
The shop link is here

and there's also an opusanglicanum facebook group, which many participants are involved with, and which is open to all who are interested in medieval embrodiery
