Tote Bag - Sandra Kendall, February Meeting 2020

Prior to the meeting members had been given a pattern and instructions to cut out the three layers of the bag. One layer in calico, one layer wadding and one in a patterned fabric. Sandra brought some sample bags and one half made, to demonstrate on. [See below]

Sandra reminded everyone of the techniques they had practiced on the colouricious day. She demonstrated spray painting with brusho and the block printing on calico.

Shiva through a stencil [bought or home made ]was demonstrated next.

Printing with paint directly onto the bag and onto separate material to be used for applique was shown next.

Sandra had brought along some evolon and transfer dyes [already painted] for anyone who wanted to make a pocket.
Everyone enjoyed being reminded of what they had practiced  at the colouricious day but this time they were applying the techniques with purpose ready to add embroidery.
All the pieces were taken home to be machine stitched into a bag which Sandra demonstrated.
It was an enjoyable day and thank you to Sandra for leading it. We are waiting with interest to see the finished bags!
One completed sample bag using markal, printing, applique and embroidery.
Below are some more beautifil tote bags finished by our members.
