Scissor Keeper and Needlecase May Meeting 2012

Scissor Keeper
This month we welcomed Val Osborn who showed us how to make a Scissor keeper and Needlecase in canvas work. We started on the Scissor Keeper and Val demonstrated Norfolk stitch and informed us how many pattern repeats we needed.

We were then shown how to finish off the Scissor Keeper by folding it and joining the edges and stuffing slightly. A cord and a tassel were added to complete the embroidery.

Val demonstrated Double Gobelin Stitch to make the cover for the Needlecase.

We were then shown how to finish the Needlecase by lining it and adding ties.
A very enjoyable session and not much to finish at home!

Dorothy put her squares in patterns of four and then hung those as a group of four. She used writing and metallic paint to colour the original papers before cutting them and then rejoining them several times. Well done Dorothy!
